1) the 49ers somehow lost Sunday's football game to the detroit lions. this better not come true.
2) i lived somewhere deep in a forest...but there was an ocean nearby. kinda like the marin headlands.

| a lonely christmas?
this christmas will be the first christmas without any immediate family members around.
many people have asked me, "is your family coming back for christmas?"
and my response has been, "naw....they're not. my brother's coming back on the 29th or 30th...but my parents will still be in china."
in the beginning, it didn't bug me much.
i knew it was coming.
after 28 christmas' with my family, this will be the first without any of them.
yes, i have extended family...and i love them to bits.
but to be honest, it's going to be very different without my immediate crew here.
thank God for the hsiao's....and thank God i have my extended family.
i will be spending christmas eve and part of christmas day with the hsiao's before heading over to my uncle's house for our annual yuen celebration...which, may i add, is always awesome.
so it going to be a lonely christmas? sort of.
but i don't say this to feel down or to make others feel down. i say this because when i think of lonely christmas', i think back to the original christmas. the one that started it all. the one where Jesus Christ was born.
prior to the famed nativity scene, Jews were on the lookout for their Savior. a King. or as enrique iglesias or mariah carey would sing, a "Hero." the legend of a Savior was passed on from generation to generation and every good Jewish person knew that a hero was coming.
what they didn't know was that that hero would have a very humble and very lonely beginning.
they expected a grand entrance. they got humility at its best.
they expected large palaces with servants galore. they got a barn with a few animals inside.
they expected someone powerful and with a daunting presence. they got a baby in a feeding trough.
they expected celebration and hooplas at His coming. they received a quiet and silent night.
Jesus came and they missed it.
i hope that this Christmas season, Christ will not be missed. i pray that Christ will not be glanced over.
there's one reason and one reason only that we celebrate this great holiday, and that is because of the miraculous birth of Christ. it's called CHRISTmas for a reason.
in God's mind, christmas had to happen. Jesus had to come.
why? to fulfill the many prophecies concerning his birth, life, death, and resurrection....AND to eventually pay the price for our sins (many of which belong to me) on that iconic cross.
The fully innocent Jesus HAD TO come. (Acts 17:3)
thank God He did come.
i wouldn't be able to say that God is loving if He never came.
i guess Jesus didn't have to come. God, the Heavenly Father, could have easily said, "eh...let's not give these humans the option of heaven. i'm not gonna send my own Son down to earth. i'll just watch from a distance."
but that wouldn't be reality.
the reality is that God is loving....and more loving than i will ever understand or ever strive for.
if i ever have the privilege to parent a child, i would never let that child die for someone else. innocent or guilty.
that's my kid. my precious son or daughter.
i wouldn't let that kid die for me. i wouldn't let that kid die for anyone no matter how good they are.
i don't care of you're the pastor of the world's largest church or if you're some miracle working doctor.
i'd never let me own child die for someone else.
but yet God did.
He let His Son die for others. and not just for the popes and pastors of the world. He let His Son die for the criminals, the murderers, the rapists, the tyrants, the greedy, the selfish, the average.....i can go on and on, but i think you get my point.
God, through a self-sacrificial love that i can never fully describe, gave up His own Son for mankind.
for you. for me. and for everyone else.
is it going to be a lonely Christmas? for me, sort of.
but so was the original one.

so last night, i had a dream that included harry potter and a sean connery impersonator.
they were both in my house and surprised me as i "woke up."
i also was in china at one point journeying around with my uncle edward.
he met up with an old teacher of his....who happened to be an african-american woman...in china.

| what do steve carrell, hopscotch, jane curtin (from "3rd rock from the sun"), sharks, middle school finals, and carribean getaways have in common?
they've all been in my dreams the last two nights.
a couple nights ago, i had a dream where pat lim, jay mo, theo, and steve carrell were my roommates in some sort of carribean university...where all we pretty much did was attend one class and play the rest of the time. our dorm was like a hotel room and we were right along the water. literally. there was no sand in between us and the water. it was as if our room was built over the water. once you opened up our sliding door, there's a 2-3 foot platform...and then the ocean, nice and deep. sharks swam right up to the edge of our balcony. it was quite freaky.
but the university we were studying at was more like a resort. jenn and james were there enjoying the water slides. and davey wong and i played a good round of hopscotch. where did steve carrell come into the picture? he was our roommate and classmate....and jane curtin was our english teacher. and to get a better grade, steve had an affair with professor curtin and pat and i found out about it. haha....
then there was my dream last night.
i was administering finals to some students in rooms 23/24. i wasn't the main teacher...but i was just subbing and helping out. sometimes, my dreams really reflect what's going on in real life.

| wow. another wildly active dream. this time including TRANSFORMERS!!!
last night, i had a dream where my 3 best friends and i were fighting alongside optimus prime and his crew against a bunch of bad guys (all human). it was one of the most exciting dreams EVER!
we went from parking garage to the streets, down alleyways, and all around the city.
it was crazy.
two dreams within two weeks containing super heroes?!?! i think i'm bound to save the world.
